"TRIP TO JAMAICA" CRABBIT RECORDING By Fantra Zine. ![]() The former Jack Ruby Hi-Fi (Ocho Rios, St. Ann - Jamaica) 80's resident deejay BOBBY CULTURE (aka Culture Bobby -- RIP), 'longside Louie Rankin and Brimstone & Fire were the Ram-dance Masters trio in NYC in the *80's. Notable collaborative album to date is "Tidal Wave." The habitat of the Ram-dance Masters: Brooklyn, Bronx, and Queens including the South side of JFK Airport at "Beach 25" in Far Rockaway where you could see the Doctor Bird logo on Air Jamaica Airline arrivals and departures. The lifestyle of the Ram-dance Masters: Ruffneck reality biz, reggae muzik, and nuff gyal pickney. Dudes lived street life to the max. Their lifestyle was embedded in their lyrics. BOBBY CULTURE's "Trip To Jamaica" was recorded and released in 1986 on Jamekee/Dollar Bill labels. Riddim (rhythm) was tracked at Bullwackie Recording Studio slightly above 245th Street & White Plains Road, Bronx - NYC. Trip To Jamaica was voiced and mixed at Power Play studio in Long Island City, Queens - NYC. Musician credit: Rudolph "Pluto Pluck" Richards. With Lloyd "Bullwackie" Barnes engineering, Pluto Pluck striped drums, bass, guitar and keyboard tracks and knocked the riddim (rhythm) out of the park with a groove that was in the pocket. Bobby Culture just hugged that in-the-pocket groove and spit his sometimes off-key flavored sing-jay style. And BOOOOOM!! Signature Bobby Culture classic. ![]() Hey yo -- we still wanna know how Bobby Culture's 'Trip To Jamaica' (and Doctor's 'Dance In Brooklyn') vinyls were shipped from New York City to San Francisco and Europe without authorization. Where did you get the recordings for shipping? Don't fool yuhself (yourself)- wi kno (we know) the culprit One-Stop in Jamaica, Queens. Piracy at its best. Interest$ have been compounded to a tidal wave sum and Barry Reis will be calling any time. D.I.A/Jamekee does not have a big catalog like some, but the multi-faceted boutique indie is always "light-years ahead" (and far beyond mere miles) in creativity, quality control, and marketing. Yo Doctor (H. Downer) aka Doc Holiday where you at? 'Dance Inna Brooklyn' pon de big bad original 'Megatron Rock' riddim is still killer. Even Bullwackie recorded Santa Rankin pon (on) dis (this) D.I.A/Jamekee 'Megatron Rock' riddim doing a song called 'Don't Put Him Dey. 'Megatron Rock' has been re-recorded at least two times also. JC Lodge's "Telephone Love" hit is on a re-recorded version of 'Megatron Rock' Hop Sing. We heard Jamalski and Kefas riding a dancehall version of 'Megatron Rock' on a Legalshot Sound dance in Paris, France with Shinehead. Click for Youtube clip.
